“You can speak well if your tongue can deliver the message of your heart.” John Ford
After two gruelling days of competition (and one a little more relaxed day of finals), the Australian Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships have come to a close. It is hard to believe that it is over...but what a few days it was.
It was heartening to hear the many impassioned pleas of the Persasive Speakers which ranged from the dangers of television, to the need to erradicate world poverty.
It was delightful to be read to by the melodic voices of the Australian Youth during the Interpretive Reading.
It was fun to watch the speakers squirm as they tackled the impromptu topics.
It was interesting to hear the opinions of our young speakers during the debates and of course it was extremely entertaining to laugh at our After Dinner speakers who helped with innumerable issues: the fear of public speaking, the ability to be the ultimate wingman and the problems of being blonde...to name but a few.
And so now we have our Australian team which emcompasses students from NSW, Victoria, QLD and WA.
We can't wait for Worlds to be upon us so that we can again give it all a red hot go.
